Music Monday | The Mountain Goats

Hey! Last week I made a video with a little sneak peek of the carving process behind block printing. My cat, Gracie, makes a cameo and I used the song This Is How We Do It by Montell Jordan - so it's definitely worth watching. 

More importantly, the design being carved features song lyrics from one of my favorite musicians in the entire universe : The Mountain Goats. John Darnielle is an incredibly prolific and amazing storyteller. The design in the video is inspired by 02-75, which John Darnielle introduces so sweetly saying, "It is a love song I wrote for my wife before she was my wife." I chose the lyrics, "You are my best friend and I have always known you." It works perfectly for a romantic relationship, as he intended, but also for a BFF kinda thang.

I have to stop now or I could go on forever and ever. Another favorite off The Sunset Tree is This Year. You can see the image at the top of this post. This design is always a show stopper at craft fairs. People love it and it cracks 'em up, even when they don't recognize that it's a song. It's one of the first designs I ever made!
