Delaware, DC & Maryland Love!

Hi! I've been printing away, creating rep kits, getting to know my talented buddies and researching states in new territories. I've only got a second, but here are some illustrations for the Washington D.C. area!

That first one needs some work as a friend pointed out that, coupled with those lyrics, it's insanely phallic. Even standing alone it is something of a wiener-pyramid, but we'll see!

Any regional images or song lyrics you've really gotta see?? Let me know and I will make it happen!

Fresh Designs!

More to come in the very near future!!!!

A Song for Mama

Some of my most vivid memories with my mom are of the two of us singing along to songs by some fantastic artists like Marvin Gaye and Tammi TerrellVan Morrison, and (my obsession for quite a while) Boyz II Men. With Mother's Day fast approaching, I knew I needed to put my expertise to work and illustrate one of our songs for her. The perfect fit and one with a ton of imagery is Boyz II Men's - A Song for Mama. The lyric that strikes me most is "Mama you're the queen of my heart." SO, I gathered my tools and got to work :

This item is for sale on my Etsy page at a special Mama's Day price of $20, but I know lots of people out there are into trying their hands at some DIY projects lately. So, I will tell you how it's done.

Here's what you'll need to have on hand :

1 pencil

1 sheet of tracing paper

1 bone folder (or spoon)

1 rubber stamp (or if you are thrifty you can try using foam)

1 carving tool (could be like the speedball pictured)

1 Ink roller

Ink of some sort (paint, speedball ink, stamp pad etc)

Surface you'd like to print on (paper, wood panel - as pictured, clothing - making sure you have the right ink, etc. etc.)

1 great idea that makes you think of your mommy

Here are simple instructions to follow :

Step 1 : Draw your image on tracing paper

Step 2 : Rub image onto stamp surface with bone folder or spoon

Step 3 : Carve out image or negative space around your lines, depending on the look you want.

Step 4 : Ink your stamp

Step 5 : Place surface on top of stamp and rub impression with spoon

Step 6 : Remove paper (or wood panel or cloth) from atop stamp

Step 7 : Be proud of yourself and enjoy your lovely new talent!

Step 8 : Gift wrap all pretty for you Mom.

If you have any questions or comments feel free to leave them in the comments or shoot me an email! Also, if you've got your own craft/recipe that you are proud of for your mama's special day check out this contest page >>

Have a wonderful Mother's Day!
